You Are Not My Gardener

Ana Oglivie

oil & acrylic on canvas

When a gardener loves its flowers, they don’t squeeze them to death and say why don’t you love me. They don’t try to possess their flowers. A loving gardener tends to their flowers, nurtures them, accepts and appreciates them. So fake flowers rose to disguise the dead ones that were crushed. And she hid behind the fake flowers trying desperately to regain authenticity, freedom and breath. A premature reach for Sunshine.

Emergence

Healthy gardens have healthy roots. So this is where it must begin. Below ground where there’s no sun. Just faithful water and rich nutrients such as love. Love without comparison, without self-doubt or dualed with hatred. Sometimes we need the darker days — less attractive than the flowers everyone loves — but produces much sweeter fruit when used right. Reconstruction should only follow a deliberate and gentle removal of the weeds and dead leaves. It’s discreetly discrete, yet connected through good soil. It’s essential and quite humbling.
