A malevolent thread melded into our fabric.
Patchwork fated to fray.
A brutal past adorned with happy holidays and hidden history.
A fractured dream wrapped in stars and stripes.
A promise dangled, but never fulfilled.
The land of the free, yet its people walk in chains.
A way of life built on betrayal and greed.
Ungodly wrongdoings, swept beneath the rug.
Screams of the souls never heard.
The weight of a thousand untold stories.
A band-aid for your gunshot wounds.
Promises of prosperity numb the rage of injustice.
They abandon those they dehumanize.
Double standards, hypocrisy and pointed fingers.
Love and hate.
Us versus them.
A society split deep in two extremes.
Streams of unrest, screams of protest.
The multiplication of disorder and despair.
You pull up your bootstraps, while they walk a life of ease.
Running a crooked race.
Playing their twisted game.
They lash you still, despite your righteous path.
Silence your screams for speaking truth.
Progress slips through grasping fingers.
Oppression, perfected by its perpetrator.
Taking back what was never theirs to claim.
Lives stolen, lives lost, lives hungry for justice.
The catalyst of ruin, we’ve reaped what we’ve sown.
Chaos and confusion unfold.
Thread by thread, the world unravels, strangled by its own neglect.
Yet still, we stitch the seams of hope.
Undoing strings from around our necks, yielding paths of equal yoke.

acrylic on canvas
collaborative painting with Alexandria and Don Lamar. This piece represents the idea of an imperfect society, ill-woven from the start. A society now raging with dissension, chaos, and emotional turmoil that can no longer be contained by fabricated lies and empty promises. The rage of injustice. The rage of lost progress. The rage of screaming souls.
